At Urban Black Roasters we ensure that we invest in our staff by training them to the best of our ability, the training equips them with the necessary skills to not only deal with the demands that come with being a barista but those that come with managing a store too. As a partner to the YES-4 YOUTH initiative, we are able to employ more baristas as we would be able to absorb more employees within our organisation due to the program.


To address the scourge of youth unemployment in South Africa, Urban Black Roasters has partnered with a YES-4-YOUTH implementing agent. This partnership allows for our Baristas to become qualified as a Barista through a certified training programme.
YES-4-YOUTH is a business-driven initiative which is breaking new ground by pioneering a partnership with government and labour, in collectively tackling a national plan to build economic pathways for black youth. The YES-4-YOUTH initiative is designed to address the following:
